24. The church of the Madonna di Loreto
In 1743 the Ursuline nuns moved to the convent which had been built outside the city wall in the suburb known as Orico. In 1848 a law was passed which decreed the closure of eight convents and the confiscation of their possessions by the by the state. So it was that the nuns were forced to leave the convent, which subsequently became the seat of the Cantonal Government.
The church was demolished in 1892.
